Wegener has been making top quality hand and machine tools for the fabrication of thermoplastics since the early 1960s.
The program has been continuously enhanced and adapted to increasing quality requirements so that now there are matching tool and accessories for almost any application.
Hot gas welding is one of the most important and oldest procedure for thermoplastic welding and is usually used for fusion welding of PE, PP, PVDF and PVC. However it is not recommended to join different types of thermoplastics by hot gas welding. It is mostly used to join pre-cut parts from sheets for construction of containers, boxes, channels, ducts, and floor coverings.
- There are many further fields of applications, such as:
- Heating of plastic semi-finished products for forming and bending
- Drying of non-flammable humid surfaces
- Removal of paint and varnish
- Dissolving of solvent free melted adhesive joints
- Hot air generation in machines and tools
We can provide you with the matching hand welding tools for any application. The range of hot gas welding torches has also been designed in compliance with the DVS guidelines. Renowned for reliability, even under conditions of continuous use, the Wegener hot gas welding torches are available to buy or rent from IPS. Harvel Plastics has launched EnviroKingUV™, a clear PVC piping that is suitable for exposure to sunlight. Unique UV blocking technology reduces harmful ultraviolet light wavelengths from penetrating the plastic while allowing beneficial wavelengths through. EnviroKingUV™ offers a cost-effective solution for photobioreactor use and other outdoor applications exposed to sunlight where transparency is required.
Harvel EnviroKingUV™ piping is produced from a unique, rigid, transparent PVC-U compound. This material has been specifically formulated to block damaging UV light. The pipe is produced to standard inch dimensions but special ThinWall™ dimensions have also been produced in a variety of diameters to improve light transmission while maintaining product rigidity.
EnviroKingUV™ has been developed to meet the demands of innovative technologies related to the renewable energy market and other emerging green industries. It is ideally suited for a wide range of outdoor applications including containment vessels for the commercialisation of micro algae (photobioreactors), biofuel processing, carbon capture and recycling, process R & D, filtration, and sight glasses.
The material possesses the well-known benefits of rigid PVC-U in a unique transparent product with UV stability. These benefits include exceptional corrosion resistance; smooth interior walls for unimpeded flow and reduced sediment build-up; good pressure-bearing capability; and ease of handling and installation, to name a few. Especially important is the possibility to make fast, reliable solvent-welded connections to the wide range of PVC-U pipe fittings and valves that are available, ensuring that EnviroKingUV™ delivers a lower overall installed cost than glass, acrylic, or other transparent materials.

Well they don't have to be! Seattle artist Buster Simpson has created downspout planter system to brighten up the otherwise plain and simple downpipes used to move the rain water from the roof to the drain.
We still think that the builder will be confused...
